The (PAC)- Public Accounts Committee has directed (CDA)- the Capital Development Authority recently to apply the regularization model of Bani Gala to legalize the illegal housing societies that are in the federal capital, Islamabad.
A meeting was held by PAC that was chaired by the Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chairman of PAC, in which the audit authorities notify the attendees that illegal construction of Ghauri Town that is on 6,000 Kanal total of land in Islamabad had caused a loss of around Rs. 30 billion to the overall exchequer of the country.
Chairman of CDA, Amer Ali Ahmed also said that the limited action till now had been taken against this unauthorized society because it is not a significant part of a high-end scheme and the residents of this society are also from the lower-middle-class status.
However, he also unveiled that the consultancy firm has now been hired just to develop a better master plan for the city, Islamabad and also to devise a comprehensive model proposal to regularize the unauthorized housing schemes of the city.
Mushahid Hussain Syed, the Senator, also suggested that Capital development authority should follow the Bani Gala’s model for regularizing these illegal societies. Moreover, the Chairman has remarked that this plan to legalize societies would definitely take around three to approx. Six months from now.
The Supreme Court earlier had conditionally regularized this unauthorized construction of societies of Bani Gala, and by following this CDA had also stated that Mr Imran Khan, Prime Minister’s house palatial Bani Gala had also legalized.
