Pakistan and Iraq sign agreement to promote tourism.

On January 19, 2022, Pakistan and Iraq signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the sector of tourism in Baghdad.

The MoU was signed on Friday by Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iraq, according to a Foreign Office statement.

The MoU will promote and facilitate cooperation and collaboration between the two fraternal countries in the sphere of tourism. It will also contribute to the strengthening of people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Iraq. Pakistan is also actively working with the Iraqi side to facilitate the entry of Pakistani Zaireen into Iraq.

The signing of the MoU is just another reflection of both countries’ efforts to strengthen and broaden bilateral cooperation in a variety of spheres. It should be noted that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iraq gained a considerable boost last year as a result of a series of Ministerial level visits, particularly the visit of Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, which was reciprocated by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
