Sending Salam, Good Morning Messages to Unknown Women Constitutes ‘Harassment’ says Kashmala Tariq.

According to Kashmala Tariq, the Federal Ombudsperson for Women’s Protection, sending Salam and good morning texts to unknown women is also considered ‘harassment.’

She described sending pleasantries via social media or text messages, as well as looking at a female, as harassment when speaking at DOW University of Health Sciences.

Kashmala, who married an Islamabad-based businessman last year, said sending poems and good morning and good night wishes are also forms of workplace harassment.

She emphasised the importance of ensuring gender equality and maintaining respectful behaviour with employers, adding that touching any female at work is also a violation of harassment law, and that many people have been fired as a result of strict anti-harassment policies.
