NCCIA Returns Rs. 1.4 Million to Online Fraud Victim After Successful Recovery

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has recovered Rs. 1.4 million(14 Lac) from an online fraud case and returned the money to the affected citizen in Lahore, according to a report published on October 10, 2026.

The operation was carried out by the NCCIA Lahore Circle under the supervision of Additional Director Atif Amir. The agency recovered the money and handed it back to its rightful owner, offering relief to the person who had lost the amount in the online scam.

The recovery highlights the role of cybercrime investigators in addressing online financial fraud in Pakistan. Such cases can involve fake identities, misleading messages, fraudulent investment offers, and other methods used to trick people into transferring money.

The NCCIA advises citizens to verify payment details before sending money and avoid sharing passwords, PINs, or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone. People who experience online fraud can report their complaints through the agency’s official website or visit a nearby cybercrime reporting centre.
