On March 21, Hyundai will launch its 2,000cc Elantra sedan in Pakistan. It would be unveiled at a web-based gathering.
According to one expert, Elantra could be priced higher than the Honda Civic Turbo, which is reportedly Pakistan’s most expensive sedan.
“I believe that if Hyundai introduces the 2,000cc variant of the Elantra, it would be more expensive than the Toyota Corolla Grande and Honda Civic, making it the most expensive car,” said Usman Ansari, an auto industry expert who runs the blog Carspiritpk.com.
Hyundai has announced that the 2,000cc Elantra would be launched first, but has not disclosed its future plans. In Pakistan, no sedan with an engine capacity of 2,000cc or more is currently being made.
According to Ansari, Hyundai is positioning itself as a luxury brand in Pakistan by selling its cars marginally higher than its rivals.
