President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari recently shared a statement that Pakistan is the only place where pink salt is produced and government should join hands with private sector and notice as we can earn billions of dollars via exporting it in the world.
He further said that the market of pink salt all around the global is US$ 12 billion, but Pakistan’s annual export of this salt is just around US$ 70 million, which is too low than the actual potential of Pakistan.
Moreover, Ahsan enlightened that our country is exporting around 90% raw pink salt at rate of US$ 60-80/ton. Whereas, other countries are getting higher rates by value addition of Pakistan’s raw pink salt and exporting it to other markets.
He advised that government should scale the minimum export of pink salt and help the business community in its value addition to boost its export.
