The entrance to the Holy Kaaba, known as Bab ar-Rahmah or the “Door of Mercy,” has a special role as a symbolic way to enter the sacred House of Allah SWT. Throughout Islamic history, different leaders have been responsible for taking care of the Kaaba’s door. Nowadays, the Al Shaiba family is in charge of the key to the Kaaba’s entrance.
During King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz’s time, a skilled jeweler named Ahmed bin Ibrahim Badr created the current entrance to the Kaaba. This door, named Bab ar-Rahmah, is made from about 280 kg of pure gold with a very high quality of 99.99%. Without counting the gold, the door’s worth is around 13.42 million Saudi riyals.
