‘Abey Khao’: Pakistan’s First Deaf staffed Food truck.

‘Abey Khao,’ the bright yellow truck with a logo of a pair of spectacles perched over a luxurious moustache, appears to be similar to many other food trucks that attract hungry students at a college in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.

However, when it comes time to place their order, the children begin signalling with their hands, suggesting that this is not your typical food truck.

The ‘Abey Khao’ food truck, which translates to “Eat Guys,” is Pakistan’s first mobile restaurant staffed solely by deaf people, giving them with an economic opportunity.

The food truck was created by a hearing-impaired family, including both parents and their two sons who are either completely or partially deaf.

Daughter Ayesha Raza, on the other hand, can hear and came up with the idea for ‘Abey Khao’ to provide chances for her brothers.

“The majority of deaf youth in Pakistan are unemployed, and they confront difficulties such as language obstacles, inequity, and prejudice,” she stated. “Customers at Abey Khao accept the deaf culture and submit their orders in sign language.”
