According to reports, Sri Lanka will host Afghanistan’s three-match ODI home series against Pakistan in August before the 2023 Asia Cup. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has agreed, in principle, to hold the matches at a single venue in their stadium.
Since Afghanistan doesn’t have its own stadium, playing in Sri Lanka will be good preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup. UAE or Qatar were considered as hosts, but the extreme heat there made it impractical.
Earlier this year, the two neighboring countries also had a three-match T20I series in Sharjah, with Afghanistan winning 2-1.
