Afghanistan Set to Host India for Historic T201 Series in Delhi

Afghanistan is expected to host India in a T20 International series for the first time in its cricket history later this year. The proposed three-match series is likely to take place in New Delhi and will mark a significant moment for Afghan cricket.

According to reports, the matches are expected to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, 16, and 19. While the schedule has been widely reported, official confirmation from the cricket boards is still awaited.

Sources suggest that the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have already reached an understanding, with only final formalities remaining before an official announcement.

The series is expected to provide exciting competition between the two neighboring teams, both of which have developed strong cricketing ties over the years. India has played an important role in supporting Afghanistan cricket, including providing venues for international matches.

Due to ongoing regional challenges and the lack of a permanent international home venue, Afghanistan has often hosted its matches in India and the United Arab Emirates. As a result, India has become a familiar location for many of Afghanistan’s home fixtures.

In addition to the T20I series, Afghanistan is also scheduled to undertake a broader white-ball tour of India. Reports indicate that the tour could include One Day Internationals (ODIs) as well as Test cricket matches in June, offering fans multiple opportunities to watch the two teams in action.

Cricket followers from both countries are eagerly waiting for official confirmation of the series. If finalized, the matches are expected to attract significant attention and further strengthen the growing cricket relationship between Afghanistan and India.
