‘Afghanistan will be Favorites Against Pakistan’: Ramiz Raja

In an anticipated ODI World Cup match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 23, Afghanistan and Pakistan are gearing up to compete.

Former Pakistan captain, Ramiz Raja, shared his thoughts on the upcoming game, giving Afghanistan the upper hand as favorites on a pitch that supports spin bowling.

While Pakistan started the tournament with victories against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, they faced setbacks against India and Australia. Raja highlighted Pakistan’s difficulties against spin bowlers in the ODI World Cup 2023.

The former PCB chief pointed out that Pakistan seemed uncomfortable when facing spin bowling.

With the MA Chidambaram Stadium renowned for favoring spinners and Afghanistan possessing a strong spin bowling trio led by Rashid Khan, Raja believes that Pakistan’s batsmen will encounter challenges in playing with freedom.

Raja expressed skepticism about Pakistan’s ability to stage a comeback in the upcoming match against Afghanistan.

“Making a comeback will be a tough task for Pakistan. The upcoming match in Chennai against Afghanistan is uncertain. Given Pakistan’s batting struggles against spin, anything can happen. If the pitch supports spin, Afghanistan appears to be slight favorites,” Raja commented on his YouTube channel.
