Aliza’s Journey: A Deaf Woman Building Opportunities Through Art, Leadership, and Inclusion

In a society where people with disabilities often face limited opportunities, Aliza’s journey stands as a powerful reminder that determination, talent, and courage can break barriers.

Born Deaf, Aliza faced many challenges from an early age. Her hearing disability shaped much of her childhood, while her parents remained her strongest support system. They provided her with love, care, and protection, often worrying about her safety and rarely allowing her to go out alone.

As she grew older, Aliza developed a strong desire to live an independent and meaningful life. She applied for several jobs, but like many persons with disabilities, she faced disappointment due to limited responses and lack of opportunities.

Instead of waiting for someone to open a door for her, Aliza decided to create her own path.

In 2016, she started a small art business named The World of Art Pvt Ltd (TWOA). She began selling paintings and gradually turned her passion into a source of income. With dedication and hard work, she built her own website and promoted her services through Facebook. Over time, her work started receiving positive responses, and her business continued to grow. Nearly a decade later, Aliza is still successfully running her art business.

Her growing recognition also led to professional opportunities from various organizations and educational institutions. She worked with ABSA School and Deaf Reach, and later received an opportunity from Pakistan Kuwait Investment Company (PKIC), where she is currently serving. Alongside her professional career, she continues to manage and expand her business.

Beyond her personal achievements, Aliza has actively worked with different organizations, institutions, and community groups to promote inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment for Deaf individuals. Her efforts have been recognized through several awards and honors, including the Sadqain Awards, Khadija-tul-Kubra Awards, She Awards in Sharjah, Dubai, and other certificates of appreciation from various organizations.

Aliza has also been associated with important platforms working for the rights and representation of people with disabilities. She served as a Women’s Wing Ex-Member of the Pakistan Association for the Deaf (PAD), remained an active member of the Deaf Community Club, worked as a women leader, and was also an Ex-Member of the National Forum of Women with Disabilities (NFWWD), Islamabad.

Every year, she independently organizes creative events that connect companies with talented Deaf individuals. Through these initiatives, her mission is to identify, support, and encourage Deaf talent, helping individuals use their skills and determination to transform their lives.

For Aliza, leadership is not limited to personal success. As a Deaf woman, she believes true leadership means creating opportunities for others. Through her work, she continues to inspire Deaf youth, especially Deaf women, to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and become confident leaders within their communities.

Her message to society is clear: Deaf people are fully capable of achieving success when given equal opportunities.

Aliza believes that Deaf individuals are talented, intelligent, skilled, experienced, and determined. The real barrier is not disability, but the lack of recognition, support, and inclusion from society. Sometimes, all Deaf individuals need is a chance to prove their potential.

Her journey reflects an important lesson: disability does not define a person’s ability or future. With determination, hard work, and the right opportunities, challenges can turn into achievements.

Aliza continues to work toward building a more inclusive world where every Deaf individual has the opportunity to learn, lead, succeed, and shine.
