The Pakistani military has taken possession of four Indian tanks. Three were taken by the brave troops of the Pakistani Army in 1965 at Chawinda, close to Sialkot, and the fourth was taken during the war in 1971. The tanks have marble slabs nearby that provide a brief history of the structures.

Some of the museum’s black marble slabs bear victims’ names and places of birth from the period of independence till the present day (2016). Since nothing has been inscribed on some of these stones yet, they will be revised at some point in the future.

From 1947 to 1951, two British generals, Sir Douglas Gracy and Sir Frank Messervy, oversaw the Pakistani military. Their busts can be seen beside those of their Pakistani counterparts. Beautifully and skillfully sculpted statues of elephants and horses shown in combat also adorn the site.

Go to the Rebirth of Nation exhibit in the Army Museum. You may watch a clip from the 1947 Pakistani constituent assembly, where Pakistan’s founder, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, gave an address under Lord Mountbatten’s watchful eye. The artists who created these sculptures have considerable talent.
