Artist Rashid Rana Honored With Sitara-e-Imtiaz

Rashid Rana, a renowned Pakistani artist was recently awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his contributions to the country’s art landscape. President Arif Alvi presented him with the award, and Rana expressed his gratitude for the honour and recognition on social media.

The best-selling artist captioned a video of the ceremony on Instagram, “I strongly believe that creative practitioners have an essential role to play in society. They need to be part of a larger discourse in the region and beyond. I think that awards like this one serve to change [an] artist’s stature in [our] culture and pave the way for others.”

Additionally, he also wore a classic black sherwani for the occasion, which he paired with a solid black pyjama and matching dress shoes.

“I owe it all to the people in my life,” Rana stated in a picture of himself wearing the medal around his neck.

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz is the third highest civilian honour that may be bestowed.
