Aseefa Bhutto, the youngest daughter of President Asif Ali Zardari, has emerged victorious in the NA-207 Shaheed Benazirabad (formerly Nawabshah) 1 constituency without facing any opposition. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially declared her as a member of the National Assembly.
Initially, Aseefa was one of 11 candidates who submitted their nomination papers for the by-poll on the vacated seat, previously held by Zardari. However, with three candidates withdrawing their nominations and seven nominations being rejected, Aseefa emerged as the sole contestant.
Aseefa’s victory marks another milestone in her political journey. She previously held the title of the country’s First Lady when her father, Zardari, assumed the presidency. Aseefa secured 411 electoral votes in the by-poll held on March 9.
