Babar Azam Jumps to 3rd Spot in ICC Test Ranking

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Travis Head from Australia has climbed to a career-high second place in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, making him a strong contender for the top spot. He is currently just nine points behind Kane Williamson, who holds the number one ranking. Similarly, Babar Azam from Pakistan has moved up three places to third in the rankings.

In the ongoing Ashes series, Travis Head has been in exceptional form, scoring 373 runs with an average of 93.25. He has recorded two centuries and two half-centuries, making him the leading run-scorer in the series. On the other hand, Babar Azam has also performed well, scoring 276 runs at an average of 69.33. He has registered one century and two half-centuries and is the second-highest run-scorer in the series.

Both Head and Azam have a chance to claim the top spot if they can maintain their good form in the upcoming matches. Head will aim to score heavily in the remaining two matches of the Ashes series, while Azam will look to do the same in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

The ICC Test batting rankings consider a player’s performance in the last 84 innings and are updated after each Test match. The player ranked at the top is considered the best Test batsman in the world.

The ICC mentioned that Pakistan captain Babar Azam has moved up three places to third, while Australian players Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, along with England’s Joe Root, have all dropped one spot in the rankings. This creates an exciting competition for the top position in the rankings.
