Babar Azam Named Captain Of ‘ICC T20I Team Of The Year’

Pakistan’s Babar Azam has been recently named as captain of the International Cricket Council’s T20I Team of the Year 2021, which also includes Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The ICC stated that Babar was chosen as captain because he had a great year with the bat and was also a great captain.

The ICC added, “In 2021, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was at his classy best in the shortest format, leaving his best at the T20 World Cup, where he finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 939 runs at an average of 37.56 with one century and nine half-centuries. Overall, Babar played 29 matches and aggregated 939 runs at an average of 37.56 with one century and nine half-centuries.”
