Babar Azam is on the verge of setting a new record in Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) cricket. The right-handed batter has scored 20 ODI centuries, equalling former Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar’s record for the most hundreds by a Pakistani player in the format.
Babar reached the milestone on November 14, 2025, when he scored an unbeaten century against Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. His innings helped Pakistan chase a target of 289 runs and secure an eight-wicket victory, giving the team an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
At the time of his record innings, Babar had reached the milestone in 136 innings, while Anwar took 244 innings to score his 20 ODI hundreds. This makes Babar the faster of the two to reach the mark.
Babar made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in May 2015 and has since become one of Pakistan’s leading batters. His consistent performances have also earned him major international recognition, including the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award in 2022.
With 20 ODI centuries to his name, Babar needs one more hundred to move ahead of Anwar and become Pakistan’s outright leading century-maker in the format. Achieving the record would add another major milestone to his international career.
