Babar Azam Named as ICC Men’s Player of the Month

According to the state-run media outlet Associated Press of Pakistan, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s Player of the Month for April 2021 on Monday.

According to the report, Azam was chosen as the April winner by fans and the ICC voting academy for his “consistent and outstanding performances in all formats in the recently concluded series against South Africa.”

Azam’s match-winning 82-ball 94 in the third One-Day International against South Africa helped him earn 13 rating points, taking his total to a career-high 865. In the third match of a T20I series against the same opposition, he scored 122 from 59 balls in Pakistan’s successful chase.

“In white-ball cricket, the world bats in two directions.

“One way is to smash attacks with muscle and power, and then there’s Babar Azam’s way, which is like performing a batting symphony with punch, panache, and flair, and he deserves to win this award,” said Ramiz Raja, who represents the ICC’s voting academy.
