Ban Imposed on Issuance of Driving Licenses in Islamabad

According to official sources, the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad police, Qazi Jamilur Rehman, has authorized a three-month ban on the issuance of driving licenses due to an increase in coronavirus cases.

The decision was made in a meeting chaired by IG Islamabad Qazi Jamilur Rehman, who ordered that no new driving licenses be issued during the time and that police officers not enforce challans on expired licenses.

During the meeting, the police department voted to set up a control room in the Safe City office to handle any emergency situations that might arise. Disinfection rooms will be set up in police lines and police stations, according to IG Jamilur Rehman.

He also ordered police officers to salute the frontline doctors and paramedics on a regular basis.
