Bangladesh Beats Finalist of Asia Cup ‘India’ in a Thriller

Bangladesh secured a six-run win over India in the Asia Cup Super Four stage, led by captain Shakib Al Hasan’s 80 runs and inspired bowling. Despite Shubman Gill’s valiant 121, India couldn’t chase down Bangladesh’s 266 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets, and debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mahedi Hasan claimed two each as Bangladesh bowled out India for 259. India rested key players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in this match.

Bangladesh initially struggled at 59-4, but Shakib and Towhid Hridoy’s 101-run partnership and contributions from the lower order helped them reach 265-8.

In response, India lost early wickets, including skipper Rohit Sharma in the first over. Shubman Gill fought valiantly, scoring a century, but the Bangladesh bowlers kept taking crucial wickets.

Despite Axar Patel’s efforts with 42 runs, India couldn’t complete the chase and were bowled out in 49.5 overs.

This victory marked a consolation win for Bangladesh, who ended the tournament with two wins. India had already secured a spot in the final against Sri Lanka. Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam, was knocked out of the tournament by Sri Lanka.
