Basketball Star Michael Jordan’s 1992 Jersey Sells for Over $3 Million

An Olympic jersey worn by basketball star Michael Jordan during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics was sold for $3.03 million. The auction was conducted by Goldin, an online marketplace for collectibles. The US basketball team, known as “The Dream Team,” consisted of some of the greatest players like Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.

It was the first time NBA players were allowed to compete in the Olympics, and the US team easily won the gold medal in Barcelona. This specific jersey worn by Jordan in the semi-final game against Lithuania was part of an auction that included signed jerseys from all 12 members of the team.

In another auction in September, a jersey worn by Jordan during the opening game of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for over $10 million, setting a new record as the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia worn in a game.
