#BoycottMurree trends on twitter as hotels in Murree charging 500% forcing people to sleep in cars

Trapped tourists complained to hotel owners in the gorgeous hill station about charging huge rents and pricey food as Pakistan saw horror when a snowstorm slammed Murree.

According to reports in the local media, the hotel owners increased the room rent to Rs70,000 per night, which was previously available for Rs6,000 to Rs10,000.

Tourists were also compelled to spend the night in their automobiles due to excessive hotel fees, since many could not afford the high-priced lodging facilities.

Tourists told a local media outlet that “cold-hearted” hotel proprietors had no mercy, even on youngsters, and that basic food prices had also increased due to the bad weather conditions in the most frequented area.

A journalist also published a receipt from a Murree hotel, which said that the family was charged Rs. 20,000 in rent. The family was advised to depart their accommodation the next day due to the astronomical rent, which included no heating or hot water.

A ten-rupee packet of cookies went for Rs300, while a water bottle sold for Rs250-300. Many people were forced to stay in their cars and drive through the weather, while others went hungry for hours.

Despite the fact that many social media users posted photographs on networking sites, hotel owners have disputed the charges.

Some residents even claimed that they tried their utmost to assist with the evacuation and that they allowed individuals to stay for free during the storm.
