China Rolls Out the Biggest 5G Network of the World

China now has the world’s biggest 5G high-speed mobile network, with 260 million 5G mobile connections, as per a government official.

According to Liu Liehong, vice minister of industry and information technology (MIIT), China’s 5G network coverage and user size have greatly increased.

Since 5G was commercialized more than a year ago, telecom firms have worked hard to resolve the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak and accelerated the development of 5G networks, according to Liu. The country now has the world’s largest 5G mobile network.

By the end of February, 792,000 5G base stations had been installed, 5G standalone networks had been installed in all prefecture-level cities, and 260 million 5G terminal connections had been created, laying a solid foundation for the promotion of 5G applications.

As per MIIT numbers, China’s 4G network base stations accounted for half of the world’s total.
