China made headlines in the construction industry after a company reportedly completed a 57-storey skyscraper in Changsha in just 19 working days, achieving a remarkable construction pace of around three floors per day.
Known as Mini Sky City, the project demonstrated the potential of modular and prefabricated construction techniques to significantly reduce the time required to build large high-rise structures.
Instead of relying entirely on traditional on-site construction, the building was assembled using 2,736 prefabricated modules that were manufactured in advance and then transported to the site for installation.
This approach allowed major components to be fitted together rapidly while reducing the amount of conventional construction work required on-site.
The completed development includes around 800 apartments, 19 atriums and office space designed to accommodate approximately 4,000 people.
Beyond its impressive construction speed, the project attracted attention for its focus on structural strength and earthquake resistance.
It became a notable example of how modern engineering, factory-made components and modular construction could reshape the way high-rise buildings are designed and assembled.
The project continues to be cited as an example of China’s rapid advances in construction technology and the possibilities offered by industrialized building methods.
