China will assist Pakistan in capitalizing on the current technological revolution.

New industries are emerging in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and the digital economy, and China will assist Pakistan in seizing the technological revolution’s wave to “overtake” and achieve leapfrog development.

In particular, in promoting industrial cooperation and the construction of industrial parks in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), it is critical to recognize the importance of science and technology innovation in driving economic development, actively applying new technologies, and cooperating in emerging industries.

To make CPEC digitalized and greener, industries including energy conservation and environmental protection, electronic communication, bio-industry, new energy, high-end equipment manufacture, and novel materials are being developed.

Dr. Baige Zhao, Vice-Chair of the 12th NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, Chair of the Advisory Committee of the BRI International Think Tank, and RDI, voiced the views mentioned earlier during a webinar on the Indo-Pacific (Quad) Accord and US-China Curtailment Policy against BRI.

She emphasized that cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of energy, transportation, infrastructure, and Gwadar port construction in “Phase 1.0” remains important and should be actively promoted to fully unlock the development potential of Pakistan’s Geo-economy and take CPEC as the lead to shape the South Asian regional value chain.
