Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has offered talks to the federal government, saying political issues should be discussed through negotiations instead of confrontation.
Speaking to senior journalists in Peshawar on September 26, Afridi said that if the federal government wants to resolve the current issues, it should come to the negotiating table. He questioned why talks should be held after the planned long march when both sides could discuss their differences beforehand.
The development comes as PTI has postponed its planned Islamabad long march from September 27 to October 4. Afridi said the party’s political committee had unanimously agreed on the new date.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also renewed his invitation to opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai for talks. According to reports, the prime minister wants discussions on political and institutional matters, including the appointment of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s new members.
