Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed officials to remove illegally built ramps outside homes when they interfere with roads, streets or public walkways.
The instruction was given during a meeting on development projects in the Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, where officials reviewed progress on infrastructure schemes across different districts.
The chief minister stressed that private construction should not create difficulties for the public or restrict access to roads and other common spaces. Authorities have been asked to take action against structures that obstruct public passage.
She also directed officials to use covers made from recycled plastic for roadside drains. The measure is intended to improve drainage infrastructure while making use of recyclable materials.
During the meeting, officials presented updates on several projects related to roads, sewerage systems, drainage networks and traffic management.
The chief minister called for better planning and practical solutions to address infrastructure problems in Punjab’s cities and districts.
Improving drainage and covering roadside drains could also make streets safer for pedestrians and vehicles while reducing open hazards along roads.
The removal of obstructive ramps is similarly aimed at keeping public routes accessible and ensuring that private structures do not interfere with the movement of residents.
