CM Sindh Approves Setting Up Two New Sea Water Desalination Plant in Karachi

Being aware of the water requirement of the city, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh recently planned to get two Seawater Desalination plants installed, each consisting of 5 MGD, in the metropolis. He is also looking forward to install seawater desalination plant abandoned at KANUPP.

This would be convenient to provide drinking water to the people living in old area to the DHA. Meeting was held among provincial ministers, advisors, secretaries and other relevant officers at the CM House in Karachi.

Three locations were planned to get it installed including Ibrahim Hyderi, Ayesha Masjid DHA-VII, and the Village Restaurant at Sea View.

CM gave permission Ibrahim Hyderi at Korangi Creek which is one-and-a-half kilometres away from Dhari Island.

As per statement, CM instructed the local government to install another 5-MGD desalination plant near Lyari for the provision of water in an area.

Instructions was also passed to the Nasir Shah, Provincial Minister to approach private companies to provide water to KANUPP.

KANUPP installed their own plant previously, which is unused and could be utilized for the provision of water to the city.

Moreover, CM Sindh gave approval for the construction of the Korangi Causeway bridge. The timeline set by Minister Shah to concern department share the complete detailed design by August 31. In addition, it was instructed to finalize the formalities and to start construction by November 1.
