COAS Asim Munir Pledges Full Support for CPEC

In a press release, ISPR said that General Syed Asim Munir, COAS, met with Foreign Minister Qin Gang and a Chinese State Councillor on Sunday to confer regional security and defence cooperation.
According to the military’s media wing, the COAS also promised “full support” for the CPEC project, a crucial part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s responsibility to the China-Pakistan strategic relationship and esteemed Beijing’s unwavering support for Islamabad on “regional and international issues.”

Foreign Minister Qin Gang emphasised the significance of the longstanding strategic relationship between the fraternal nations and expressed his delight with the progress made on the CPEC while restating China’s commitment to its timely fulfilment.
He also admired Pakistan’s efforts in preserving regional peace and stability, especially the support of the Pakistan Armed Forces for providing security to Chinese nationals and projects in Pakistan.
The two dignitaries were also concerned about the growing security situation in the region.
