Country’s First Arthritis Centre to be Opened in Karachi

By a group of health experts, Pakistan’s first arthritis centre has been in inaugurated in Karachi for diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases systemic autoimmune conditions, commonly referred to as rheumatic diseases led by an American board-certified rheumatologist.

Recently, at the launching ceremony, Dr Saliha Ishaq, managing director of the PAAC said that An epistle of understanding has been signed with a local health group for the establishment of Pak-American Arthritis Centre (PAAC), where trained and qualified rheumatologists locally and foreign would be available for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic patients, which is the common disease in Pakistan but difficult to diagnose and treat by other health experts.

Other well rheumatologists and health experts also attended the ceremony including leading rheumatologists, including Dr Tabe Rasool from the Dow University of Health Sciences, Dr Tahira Perveen from Liaquat National Hospital, Dr Babar Saeed Khan, Chief Executive Officer Ehad Medical Centre Karachi Dr Anam Dayem.

As per the leading experts, rheumatoid arthritis or RA, is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease which attacks the healthy cells of body by mistake results in painful swelling on the effected part. It usually attacks on the joints usually many joints all at once.

The MoU was signed with Ehad Medical Centre, having over 20branches all over Karachi where trained and qualified rheumatologists would be available as per the establishment of the PAAC. The network would be expanded to other cities of Pakistan, expansion of the Ehad Medical Centre in the country, as per Dr Saliha.
