CPEC Creates 155,000 Jobs for Pakistan

According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has played a significant role in fostering bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan over the past decade.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of CPEC, and during a recent press conference, an official from the NDRC highlighted the positive outcomes achieved through CPEC. These include the successful development of Gwadar Port, as well as collaborations in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and industry.

The official also mentioned that several highway construction projects are progressing as planned, and the power plants that are now in operation contribute to almost one-third of Pakistan’s electricity needs, alleviating the power shortage situation. The NDRC further stated that by the end of 2022, CPEC had generated a total of 236,000 jobs, with 155,000 of those employment opportunities benefiting Pakistani workers.
