Pakistan’s junior hockey team has reached the semi-finals of the Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup 2026 after defeating Malaysia 5-2 in a Pool B match in China on Tuesday. The victory was Pakistan’s third straight win in the tournament, keeping the team unbeaten and taking them to the top of the group with nine points.
Malaysia started strongly and took the lead in the ninth minute through Muhammad Salehi. Pakistan went into half-time 1-0 behind but changed the game after the break.
Nadeem Khan equalised in the 32nd minute before Abdullah Sami Rana gave Pakistan the lead four minutes later. Waleed Rana then scored twice in quick succession in the 39th and 40th minutes to make it 4-1.
Ali Hamza added another goal in the 41st minute and was named Player of the Match. Malaysia scored again through Ganaselen Dhirsh in the 54th minute, but Pakistan held on for a 5-2 win.
Pakistan will play Bangladesh in their final Pool B match on Wednesday.
