Dr. Rozina Karmaliani: First Ever Pakistani Nurse Make it to American Academy of Nursing

Dr. Rozina Karmaliani, first Pakistani nurse to be introduced as a Fellow of American Academy of Nursing, she would join AAN from October 29, 2022, in Washington, DC. A great achievement for the Pakistani nursing fraternity.

AAN is one of the largest renowned international organisations of nursing, a great source in healthcare domain with nursing knowledge and practices all over the world for many generations.

The iron lady is listed among 3,000 AAN fellows from worldwide who have been inducted un the past 5 decades. Dr. Rozina is currently working as a dean of Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (AKU-SONAM).

Not only this, but Dr. Rozina is the first nurse from Central and South Asian region to be introduced into the AAN.

Dr. Rozina is associated with AKU-SONAM for approximately around 30 years.

Dr. Rozina stated that she is honoured to represent Pakistan on such global platform. While with rapid changing trends in health sector it is not an easy task for a developing country nurse to secure a seat in the table where such important policy dialogues and decision making took place. So that it would have a great impact on healthcare outcome and nursing practice in Pakistan.

The American Academy of Nursing fellowship is the highest honour grant to nursing professionals in healthcare domain through education, practice, research and policy.

The nomination and recruitment of members is a meticulous process. Where the inductees are expected to have an impactful healthcare policies.
