Recently, the Punjab Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Programme, a relief package for the household consuming upto 100 units of electricity was hold by the ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) till the polls on July 17, confirmed by the Chief Minister, Hamza Shahbaz.
After hearing arguments from Punjab chief minister, a three member bench of Election Commission of Pakistan leading by Chief Election Commission, directed by Sikandar Sultan Raja.
Moreover, the Election Commission issued a notice to Hamza Shehbaz looking forward for his reply for claimed breach of electoral code of conduct by announcing free of cost electricity to specific group of consumer ahead of the July 17 by elections.
On July 7, the electoral watchdog had looked for a reply from the provincial chief executive.
PTI condemned that the relief package was announced just a few days before elections on 20 provincial assembly seats in Punjab. Which results in apex court’s intervention into the matter as well.
