Egg Price Hits Rs200 Per Dozen in Lahore

Adding fuel to the fire of inflation stricken masses, table egg price got to Re200/ dozen mark for the first time in summer months asper official price list issues recently.

Rs. 1 Increased on the daily basis since July 29, 2022 up to August 03, 2022, price hiked by Rs5/dozen since then.

Reflecting a surge of 23pc year in year, Rs162/dozen have been reported as of last year on August 03,2021.

As per Agriculture Marketing Information Service,average per dozen price of egg has been recorded at Rs197, while various markets of Punjab province has range between Rs184 and Rs202/dozen. Whereas, Rs 184/dozen are being sold in Multan, 190 per dozen in DG Khan, Rs195 in Gujranwala. Its price jumped to Rs202 per dozen in Okara, Rs200 in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Bahawalpur.

Recent surge in egg price has been caused by high cost of imports due to instability in rupee-dollar parity, as per poultry industry.

In addition he said that corn crop was badly affected because of unstable weather and pest attack which resulted in arose cost of poultry feed.
