‘Ehsaas’ will open 17 new shelters

The Ehsaas shelters will be built in a number of areas across KPK, Balochistan, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Moreover, four mobile shelters will be set up in four districts of Balochistan during this time, which will visit different regions to feed the destitute and needy. These shelters, however, would not include sleeping quarters.

The shelters will be monitored by cameras 24 hours a day, with backup power, fully functional shared bathrooms, and self-serve meals in dining halls.

The protection centres will open throughout Punjab, including Lahore, Multan, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur, as well as in KPK, including Peshawar, Swat, Kohat, Bannu, and DI Khan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of compassion for the underprivileged and defenceless led to the creation of the ‘Panagah’ concept. People are protected by ‘Panagahs’ from harsh weather and freezing temperatures.

A shelter’s yearly spending is expected to be Rs46 million, including fixed and capital expenses of Rs13.55 million and operational and running costs of about Rs35 million.
