Electricity Consumers Paid Rs. 37 Billion to PTV as License Fee in Last 5 Years

The National Assembly was informed on Friday that a total of Rs. Pakistan Television (PTV) has taken 36.87 billion from electricity consumers as a television license fee through electricity bills over the past five years.

In 2017-18 an amount of Rs. 6.87 billion were collected from electricity consumers. PEPCO raised Rs. 6.12 billion consumers while K-Electric Rs. 0.74 billion. An amount of Rs. 7.52 crore was raised in 2018-19, of which PEPCO Rs. 6.66 billion in consumer bills while K Electric raised Rs. 0.86 billion.

In FY 201920, Rs. 7.33 billion was raised. PEPCO’s stake stood at Rs. 6.48 crore, while K-Electric’s stake stood at Rs. 085 billion. In 202021, Rs. 9 billion consumers were recorded. PEPCO raised an amount of Rs. 8 billion consumers while K-Electric Rs.0.99 crore.

During the current financial year, an amount of Rs. 5.94 crore Electricity consumers were recorded up to 22 February 2021. PEPCO has raised Rs. 5.2 billion consumers, while K-Electric increased Rs.0.7 billion over the period.
