Eligibility Criteria for Honhaar Scholarship Program Announced, Here’re Details

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Honhaar Scholarship Program, allocating a massive budget of Rs. 130 billion to support talented students across the province. This initiative aims to make higher education more accessible to deserving students by covering tuition fees for undergraduate programs.

Who Can Apply for the Honhaar Scholarship?

The program is open to students meeting the following criteria:

  1. Punjab Residency: Applicants must hold a domicile from any district in Punjab.
  2. Age Limit: The age of applicants should not exceed 22 years as of the closing date.
  3. Enrollment Requirements:
  • Students must be enrolled in selected programs at eligible institutions, including universities, colleges, and medical colleges, for the fall session of 2024.
  • Fresh MBBS and BDS students are also eligible.
  1. Family Income: Monthly family income should be under Rs. 300,000, verified by an affidavit.
  2. Academic Performance:
  • Medical Colleges: 80% or above.
  • Top Universities: 80% or above.
  • Public Universities: Minimum 75% for Science and 70% for Arts and Social Sciences.
  • HED Colleges: Minimum 65% for Science and 60% for Arts and Social Sciences.

Program Highlights

The Honhaar Scholarship will cover tuition fees for over 68 disciplines at 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges across Punjab. It plans to award scholarships to 30,000 students annually, ensuring equitable access to education for all.

The Punjab government is also extending the Maryam Ki Dastak program to 32 districts, including Rahim Yar Khan, Gujrat, and Chiniot. This initiative, focused on improving public services through trained representatives, aligns with Maryam Nawaz’s vision of citizen-centric governance.
