Wasim Akram has criticised Pakistan’s decision to make major changes to its Test squad in the middle of the ongoing England tour, calling the situation “embarrassing.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made several changes after the team lost the first two Tests heavily. Seven players were sent home, including senior names such as Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq and Salman Ali Agha. Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed was also removed, with Mike Hesson taking charge for the final Test.
Akram questioned the lack of stability and communication behind these decisions. He said Pakistan needs a clear system and consistent planning rather than frequent changes during international tours. He also suggested that the cricket setup should be given four to five years to properly develop.
The shake-up has come as Pakistan struggles against England in the three-match series. England won the opening two Tests and moved close to a clean sweep in the third match at Edgbaston. The changes have also raised concerns about team management and decision-making within Pakistan cricket.
