Punjab’s Local Government Department has declared that they had registered more than 262,000 newborns in a 10 days span as a part of birth registration campaign.
As per details, 34,672 newborn boys and girls got registered in Lahore only. While 12450 newborns got registered in Gujranwala, 21,301 from Sahiwal, 13,402 from Gujarat, 43,822 from Multan, and 22905 from Bahawalpur respectively.
The objective of the campaign is to register the child as it plays a vital role and help to establish their legal identity and can give them the access to vital services such as healthcare and education.
It is pertinent to mention that Municipal Secretary, Syed Mubasher Hussain, the district of Faisalabad is on the top of had birth registration during the campaign, with birth certificates issued to 50,184 children.
Altogether, the campaign witnessed 126,717 girls and 136,242 boys registered within a 10-day period.
This is a significant achievement in confirming that children are registered at birth.
