The latest raid on fake World Cup trophies reaching the market before the football event that begins later this month found 144 fakes, according to Qatari authorities, who announced the seizure on Wednesday.
According to the interior ministry, detectives began an operation after learning about a website that advertises the sale of cups that resemble the real World Cup.
It published a picture of the 144 life-size trophies spread out on the ground.Also, it promised to follow “further legal procedures.”
The whereabouts of the trophies or whether any suspects had been detained were not disclosed by the government.
