The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sold Bahria Town’s large property in Murree to recover unpaid taxes of about Rs 26 billion.
The land measures 527 kanal and 10 marla. It is located in Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road in Tehsil Murree, District Rawalpindi. The FBR attached this property in September 2025 under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
An earlier auction did not finish successfully. In the latest public auction, a Pakistani businessman offered the highest bid and won the property. Sources say the total cost of buying the land, including all taxes and charges, was around Rs 825 million.
The FBR kept the right to accept or reject any bid during the process. Officials said the sale followed all legal steps after earlier recovery efforts failed.
This action is part of the tax authority’s wider efforts to collect outstanding dues from Bahria Town for tax years 2020 and 2022. The liability grew after a Supreme Court ruling that changed how property developers must report income.
Earlier, the FBR had already sold Bahria Town’s corporate office in Islamabad for more than Rs 2 billion.
