FIA Ordered Not to Harass PTI Social Media Activists

The Islamabad Supreme Court (IHC) barred the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) from harassing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political activists and summoned the director of the FIA’s cybercrime wing on Friday to appear in court in person.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah recorded a petition filed by Ali Nawaz Awan challenging the raids on social media homes by PTI activists.

As interviewees, Awan had named the Home Secretary, the Inspectors General of Police of Islamabad and Punjab, the Director-General of the FIA ​​and the Director of the FIA ​​Cyber ​​Wing.

The petition points out that illegal raid were carried out on the homes of PTI activists from the social network at the behest of the ruling party, and various prosecutions were instituted against them. He added that PTI workers’ families are also being harassed.

The petitioner called for an immediate end to the unlawful harassment of PTI workers and strict action against those who, for political reasons, violate people’s privacy and the integrity of their homes.

He asked the court to declare illegal operations of the FIA ​​and the police against the PTI workers.
