Finance Minister Ishaq dar says ‘Won’t take Dictation’ from IMF

Soon after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) sought details from the Pakistan government on the expected revenue shortfall and extra spending by the provinces in the aftermath of the floods

Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar said that the international money lender cannot dictate terms to Pakistan on how to manage the finances.

  • Ishaq Dar says “friendly country” to provide $3 billion to Pakistan.
  • FinMin Dar says all requirements for IMF’s ninth review are met.
  • “Neither has Pakistan defaulted nor will it [in future], Inshallah.”

The News reported that Pakistan and the IMF talks are continuing on the ninth review, but both sides are yet to strike a broader agreement on a revised macroeconomic framework for the current financial year.
