For the seventh year in a row, Finland stays as the happiest country worldwide, as per the latest World Happiness report. Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden also remain in the top 10 happiest nations, with Finland leading the way.
Afghanistan, dealing with a tough humanitarian situation since the Taliban’s return in 2020, stayed at the bottom among 143 countries surveyed. The United States and Germany, though not in the top 20 happiest countries, secured 23rd and 24th positions.
Costa Rica and Kuwait made it into the top 20, ranking 12th and 13th, respectively. Surprisingly, none of the world’s largest countries made it to the happiest countries’ list.
The report also noted changes in happiness levels since 2006-2010, with Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Jordan seeing declines, while Eastern European nations like Serbia, Bulgaria, and Latvia reported increases.
Happiness rankings are based on people’s self-assessed life satisfaction and factors like GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and corruption levels.
