First Phase of Uniform National Curriculum to Be Introduced by the Government

Wajiha Akram, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, has recently announced that a uniform national curriculum for grades 1 to 5 will be implemented across the country starting in August 2021.

She added that model textbooks had been prepared for these classes, and the provinces had the option of adopting them or developing their own based on the model textbooks.

In the second step, starting in the academic year 2022-2023, the country will implement a standardized national curriculum for grades 6 to 8. From the academic year 2023-2024, a uniform national curriculum for grades 9 to 12 will be implemented in the third process.

She stated that the standardized curriculum will not only provide students across the country with equitable learning opportunities, but it will also ensure national unity and stability in order to create one nation.
