First Time in History 30 Members of the Transgender Community Complete Quranic Lessons in Lahore

A group of 30 members of the transgender community in Lahore has finished their Quranic lessons, marking a historic first. They were each given a copy of the Holy Quran as a token of their accomplishment.

The classes, which were held in Lahore’s Johar Town for a year and included both Quranic lectures and other Islamic education, were started by Anusha Tahir Butt for a transgender welfare organisation.

A prayer ceremony was held to commemorate the end of the course, and copies of the Holy Quran were distributed to the attendees. Butt asserts that the transgender community’s separation from Islamic teachings was one of the causes of its participation in immoral actions.
