US President Donald Trump has unveiled a new luxury jet for Air Force One. The Boeing 747-8 was gifted by the government of Qatar and has been turned into a special presidential aircraft. Trump called it the “flying White House” and “the world’s most luxurious plane.”
Speaking at Joint Base Andrews, Trump praised the jet’s size, speed, and comfort. He said it flies farther and faster than older models. The plane features a new red, white, dark blue, and gold color scheme chosen by Trump. It will lead a big military flyover in Washington, D.C., on July 4 to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
The jet, valued at about $400 million, was donated by Qatar in 2025 as a “bridge” aircraft. It will serve until new Boeing planes arrive around 2027-2028. The US military spent hundreds of millions more to add secure communications, defenses, and other needed upgrades.
The gift has caused debate in the United States. Critics worry about ethics, security risks, and whether accepting such an expensive present from a foreign country is right. Some question if it breaks the rules on gifts. Trump defended the decision, saying it would be “stupid” to reject such a valuable plane. Supporters see it as a smart way to solve delays in the presidential fleet.
The new “Flying White House” shows America’s push for strong, modern air travel for its leaders.
