Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have received a 14-year jail sentence in the Toshakhana case from an anti-corruption court in Islamabad. Imran Khan’s legal team has conveyed that Bushra Bibi plans to surrender to jail following the sentence.
Expressing concerns about the fairness of the country’s judicial system, Khan’s media team stated that it’s a somber day for the judicial system, and they perceive the decision as predetermined, lacking opportunities for cross-questioning or final arguments.
The team intends to challenge this decision. This development follows Khan’s ten-year prison sentence a day earlier for disclosing state secrets in another case, just a week before national elections. The Toshakhana case alleges that Khan deliberately concealed details about gifts he received from the Toshakhana during his tenure as prime minister.
